Effective January 2026 - We are thrilled to share a major milestone for our community:
Beginning January 2026, Labor of Love is now able to bill Kaiser Permanente directly for eligible services.
This marks an important step forward in expanding access to doula support and childbirth education for families who deserve care that is informed, compassionate, and centered on choice.
What This Means for Kaiser Members
For Kaiser members, this change means that accessing Labor of Love support may now be simpler and more financially accessible. Direct billing reduces barriers, out-of-pocket costs for eligible clients, and helps ensure that families can focus on their pregnancy and birth experience without the cost of a doula being an issue.
If you are a Kaiser member, you may now be able to receive Labor of Love services through Kaiser coverage, depending on your plan, eligibility, and referral requirements.
Why This Matters
For years, families have expressed how valuable doula support and childbirth education are, but also how difficult it can be to navigate reimbursement or upfront costs. Being able to bill Kaiser directly is a meaningful shift toward:
Increased access to non-medical, supportive care
Greater equity in birth support options
Recognition of the role doulas and educators play in maternal health outcomes
This change reflects ongoing efforts to integrate community-based birth support into larger healthcare systems in a way that honors both evidence-based care and lived experience.

Looking Ahead
We are deeply grateful to the families, birth workers, and advocates who have supported Labor of Love and pushed for broader access to care. This milestone represents progress—but also motivation to continue expanding resources, education, and support for our community.
